College Tours
The college and career program is an important resource for young adults that may be facing financial, academic or social barriers to achieving their goals. Many students don’t attend college because of their lack of exposure to what college has to offer. These tours give students a better sense of what college life is all about beyond the small amount of information printed on a brochure. Students are able to personally navigate the campus and get first hand knowledge and vital advice and guidance on college admissions, financial aid, scholarships availability, loan possibilities as well as the opportunity to visit potential majors of study that will coincide with their future life goals so that they can succeed in college and their chosen career paths.
Mindfulness Meditation
The program is designed to help children develop a range of skills including mindfulness, self awareness, empathy and emotional regulation. Mindfulness instruction has many benefits for youth such as building focus, concentration, strengthen learning and perception skills. S.C.O.R.E.’s trained instructors aim to reduce stress, anger, anxiety and depression while helping youth better recognize their thoughts, and emotions to foster better social skills and overall behavior which leads to better grades.
Public Art Campaign
The non-profit art program for youth is an important resource for parents and caregivers who want to provide their children with opportunities for creative expression and artistic development. These projects get the youth involved in creative activity that causes them to not only use their minds and talents, but also helps them express themselves, improve confidence, boost self awareness, improve communication as well as problem solving. These projects serve as art therapy for youth that don’t get the opportunity to open up about their personal issues. Painting murals gives youth the opportunity to communicate with others, help relieve bottled up feelings, aid in creative expression and boost self esteem.
Additional Projects
S.C.O.R.E. plans to expand its services to include recreational sports activities and CPR training for children and youth. The goal is to promote physical fitness, healthy habits, teamwork, and sportsmanship in young people, while providing an affordable and accessible option for families in the community. CPR Training is an essential lifesaving skill that will equip students with the hands on, practical skills and confidence that could be the determining factor in saving a life. Empowering youth with this training and skill will give them an opportunity to take an active role in their communities and become responsible and reliable citizens.
